Developed just weeks after October 7th, BaseCamp operational model is designed to address crisis points with precision.
The core principle is to ensure that every young person has a significant adult in their life - a role model who inspires, believes in them, earns their trust, and guides them through this challenging time. This adult also helps to strengthen the youth’s personal resilience and reconnect them to meaningful and identity-building groups. Youth counselors accompany the youth throughout the day, from morning to evening, both during school and in after-school activities

Training for Professional Excellence
A robust training and support system is in place for the counselor teams, ensuring they are equipped to serve as empowered, meaningful adults for the youth they guide.
This system includes:
*Weekly meetings with pedagogical assistants
*Regular sessions with social workers
*Formation-building trips and professional training excursions
*One-on-one mentoring for each counselor
In addition, the model emphasizes rigorous recruitment and selection of instructors to ensure the long-term retention of individuals best suited for the role.

In partnership with counselors, we collaborate with various organizations to provide tailored activities & development opportunities. This process is supported by professionals in relevant fields, alongside therapeutic guidance to ensure holistic growth and resilience.

Planned Impact
As part of our strategic plan, we aim to create both direct and indirect impacts:
- Direct Impact: Through the "Rays of Light" initiative, we will reach and support the youth of Sha'ar HaNegev, approximately 1,000 individuals.
- Indirect Impact: By providing robust training and support systems for all informal education staff, we aim to strengthen the overall ecosystem that nurtures these youth.
We believe this initiative will have a transformative effect on the entire community. Empowered youth will positively influence their families, serve as role models for younger children, and inspire those around them. When the youth are engaged and supported, parents can focus on their broader responsibilities—caring for all their children, returning to their jobs, and working together to rebuild a hopeful, forward-looking narrative for the community as a whole.
